FIVE people were hospitalised with carbon monoxide poisoning after a barbecue was taken inside their Houghton Regis home.
It is believed they became ill after the barbecue was moved from the garden of the house in St Andrews Lane on Saturday (July 21) and left overnight.
An ambulance from Dunstable and an emergency rescue unit from Stopsley were sent to the scene after receiving the call at 11.18am on Sunday morning (July 22).
Paramedics gave the family oxygen therapy and cleared the house of fumes using a ventilation fan.
Four adults and one child were taken to hospital to receive specialist treatment.
A concerned neighbour said she spoke with the father of the family after they left hospital.
She said: “They brought the barbecue into the house overnight. It’s a curious one.
“He said they all woke up with bad headaches, but felt a bit of a fool calling an ambulance out.
“It’s probably a good thing he did call them out.”
