STUDENTS at All Saints Academy were inspired and empowered by special workshops designed to promote personal well-being.

Visitors from the University of Bedfordshire, Mind, Plan B, Sorted, Brook, the Terence Higgins Trust, Stand Against Violence, and the Family Matters Institute went to the Houghton Road school on February 22 and 23 to give time and knowledge to host the workshops.

Also attending the well-being days was Keith Hern, a freelance photographer and writer that has overcome throat cancer twice and is now a motivational speaker.

He was joined by Jan Meek, one of the country’s most sought-after motivational speakers as the only woman on the planet to have rowed across an ocean and walked to one of the poles.

Louise Lissaman, assistant vice-principal and organisor, said: “The main message was that no one should feel alone when facing issues related to health and well-being, there is always someone to talk to.

“Our students now have been signposted and can access services available to them.

“I am really pleased with the feedback received from both the students and the facilitators.”
