CYCLING schoolchildren had fun learning important safety skills to prepare them for riding on roads when they are older.

About 90 pupils from Years 2, 3 and 4 at Lark Rise Academy in Dunstable took advantage of some unexpected good weather to take part in the Bikeability Level 1 programme organised by Cycle4LIFE.

They say you never forget how to ride a bike, but the programme also taught the children about keeping fit and healthy, self-reliance and decision-making techniques that will last a lifetime.

The young cyclists gained the basic knowledge that will prepare them for the Level 2 road-riding course that is run at middle schools.

The government-funded course was run by experienced and qualified National Standard cycle trainers.

Cycle4LIFE provides training for cyclists of all ages and abilities who would like to build up their confidence on Dunstable’s roads.
