BEDFORD Town boss Ady Hall wouldn’t be surprised if Luton Town were trailing star striker Drew Roberts, writes Mark Wood.
The 28-year-old has netted 24 goals in 23 Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division games this term and Hall believes that sort of form can’t be ignored.
He said: “The bottom line is he is playing so well and scoring goals so it wouldn’t surprise me if anyone is looking at him.
“It wouldn’t surprise me (if Luton were interested) but we haven’t heard anything.
“We’ve had four or five seven-dayers from teams in and around similar leagues.
“Each time, Drew has done the right thing and spoken to them and been polite. He likes his football here and enjoys the club and wants to stay.”
Luton’s assistant manager Alan Neilson confirmed Roberts was a player the Hatters were aware of as he said: “He’s a player that’s been mentioned and you’ve got to look at everything.
“You look at how old he is, where he’s been? Have people watched him?
“Do they think he’s good enough to play? And will he improve the squad?
“Sometimes it’s the spin of a coin if you make the right decision.”
Roberts has scored hat-tricks against Brackley and Evesham and hit four goals at Leamington, while he has also bagged braces on five occasions this term.”
