RAIDERS tied up a couple after demanding gold, jewellery and cash in a burglary at a Kensworth home.
Now detectives are appealing for information about the aggravated burglary, which happened at 8.30pm on Monday, January 16.
The husband and wife, both 27, were watching TV at his parents’ home in Common Road when they heard the back door open.
A man appeared at the living room door and attacked the husband.
Another four men came in, demanding gold, jewellery and cash.
The thieves forced the victims upstairs and used cable to tie their hands while they searched for the safe, which was forcibly removed.
Then the burglars escaped with the safe, a substantial sum of money and a large amount of Indian-style gold jewellery.
They also took a white Audi A4 belonging to the family.
Descriptions were given of four men, all white.
One raider was 5ft 5ins to 5ft 7ins tall, of medium build and wore stone-washed pale blue jeans, a light grey hooded top and a white and grey camouflaged bandana to cover his mouth and nose.
Another burglar was very pale, more than 6ft tall and had a skinny build.
He wore a dark scarf over his nose and mouth, a medium blue and white zipped shell suit jacket and light grey jogging bottoms.
A third man was 5ft 11ins tall with a stocky build and round face.
He wore a black balaclava, a black Nike sweater and black jogging bottoms.
And a fourth man was 5ft 9ins tall.
He was wearing a black hooded top with dark trousers and a black scarf covering his face.
PC Sam Toombs, of Dunstable CID, said: “It is believed these people targeted the victims and it may be possible that members of the public may have noticed people acting suspiciously in the area in the days leading up to the incident.
“I would urge anyone with information about this crime to come forward, especially if they know the whereabouts of the white Audi car, registration number KM11 OSB.”
