A MAN allegedly tried to hit a 15-year-old boy with a hammer and then threatened him with a knife during a row in Houghton Regis.

The man was involved in an argument with the youth and a woman in Bedford Square, at about 2.30pm on Saturday, December 17.

Det Con Thomas Hamm said: “Thankfully, no-one was injured in this incident but there could have been very serious injuries if the offender had struck the victim as he seemingly intended to.”

The man is described as white, in his early 20s, with brown hair, and he was wearing a dark blue jacket and black trainers. He rode off on a silver/white mountain bike.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw what happened, or noticed the man before or after the argument.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident and released on police bail.

> Anyone with information should call Det Con Hamm, in confidence, on 01582 473322, the non-emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011.

They can also contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, or via crimestoppers-uk.org.
