DETECTIVES in Dunstable investigating a burglary which happened on Monday December 5 are asking the public, jewelers and antique dealers for help in finding the stolen property.

At around 2.45pm, three offenders forced their way into a property in Half Moon Lane, Dunstable, by forcing opening the rear kitchen door with a screwdriver. The raiders then carried out a messy search of the property, turning out the contents of drawers and cupboards, before taking a black Advent laptop computer and a large amount of jewelry.

As the thieves made their exit from the house, the homeowner returned and tried to give chase. The three offenders escaped – one on a bike, two on foot – heading along a footpath at the bottom of the Downs.

The jewelry taken was of particular sentimental value to the victim with some of it being over 100 years old and passed down through her family. A lot of it was also very distinguished and is described as follows:

A pair of teardrop style, gold earrings with a diamond in the middle

Two gold watches

A pair of silver earrings with a lilac coloured stone

Three gold chains

A pearl necklace

A gold necklace with a slight dent in the back

A gold engagement ring

A thick chained gold necklace with a green jade heart

Detective Constable Mohammed Hussain who is investigating the burglary, said: “The items which were taken are extremely precious to the owner due to their sentimental value and we want to do all that we can to recover and return them as quickly as possible.

“I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious taking place in Half Moon Lane last Monday, or from anyone who has been offered any of the items. Any information, no matter how big or small, could really help us in our enquiries.”

If you have information relating to this incident, contact DC Hussain, in confidence, on 01582 473056, the non emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
