COUNTRYSIDE lovers in the Dunstable and Totternhoe area are urged to voice their views on a proposed masterplan to protect and improve nearby land.
The plan includes countryside around Totternhoe, popular with cyclists, walkers and horse-riders.
Historical sites, a rich and diverse range of wildlife and ancient green lanes can be found in the area.
Central Beds Council wants to work with partners and the public on an action plan to “restore the area’s many features for everyone to enjoy” and “improve biodiversity”.
The area being looked at in the proposed masterplan includes areas of old chalk workings, Maiden Bower Scheduled Ancient Monument, Totternhoe Knolls and the medieval motte and bailey ruins of Totternhoe Castle. It also includes the disused railway area which is now part of a Sustrans national cycle route.
Now people can take part in a special consultation, which began on Monday, December 12, and runs through to Friday, January 27.
> Anyone interested can see the plans and speak to officers at a consultation event at Totternhoe Memorial Hall on January 14, between 10am and 3pm.
