RESIDENTS across Central Bedfordshire are being encouraged to comment on a proposed plan to helps improve homes across the area.
The revised Renewal Policy, which has been drafted by Central Bedfordshire Council’s Private Sector Housing team, sets out how the council intends to offer help to improve private homes.
The existing policy, which was approved in March 2010, contains details of grants and loans that the council can offer to help households in need to improve or repair their homes. But in the new policy, the council wants to move towards providing loan assistance, rather than grants, in most cases. This will allow more funding to be returned to the council when homes change hands, which in turn enables more homes to be improved.
