A taxi driver was dragged from his car and robbed by four people he had picked up in Dunstable last night (December 12).

The victim had collected three men and one woman from the taxi rank in West Street at about 7.30pm.

He drove them to French’s Avenue, where three of the offenders got out of the vehicle and dragged the driver onto the floor.

He was pinned down as they stole cash and a Blackberry XDA Orbit 1 PDA system before fleeing.

The three male offenders are all described as black, in their late teens, around 5ft 6ins tall, and wearing dark hooded tops and gloves.

The female was white, of similar age, slightly taller, of slim build and wearing a light or silver-coloured tracksuit top and bottoms.

Det Sgt Simon Hancock, investigating, said: “I would really like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery or anyone else who may have information – however small or insignificant they think it is – that could help us.

“Please don’t dismiss your information as unimportant – even tiny details which don’t seem relevant now might become useful later on in the investigation.”

Police say that initial enquiries suggest the offenders may have returned to Bramingham Road, Luton after the incident.

DS Hancock would like to hear from any other taxi or private hire drivers who may have collected the offenders in the area after the attack and taken them to Luton.

If you have information relating to this incident, contact DS Hancock, in confidence, on 01582 394387, the non-emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
