About £3,000 worth of computer games were stolen from Blockbusters in Dunstable last week when staff members’ backs were turned.
The brazen theft occurred between 1pm and 1.30pm on Thursday November 29, when the offender – who had browsed the shelves for several minutes – saw a shop assistant leave the counter area.
He then reached over the counter, opened a drawer, and removed more than 70 Xbox 360 games – which were in clear plastic covers – and put them into a bag before leaving the store.
PC Jenny Buckley, investigating, is asking members of the public to contact Beds Police if they are offered any Xbox 360 games without their boxes.
PC Buckley added: “We are also keen to remind the public that buying stolen goods is an offence and could land the shopper in hot water.
“There is an old adage that says ‘if it seems too good to be true… it probably is’. While everyone likes to pick up a bargain, it is not worth doing so if it lands you with a criminal record.”
The offender is described as being a white male, aged between 20 and 30 years old, about 5ft 9ins tall, of medium build, clean shaven – wearing a baseball cap, jacket and jeans.
