A 61-year-old disabled man was violently robbed for the sake of less than five pounds in loose change in Houghton Regis last week.

The man – who requires a walking stick to be mobile – was about to take a stroll around the recreation ground in Fensome Drive at about 6.15pm on Thursday, November 15.

He was getting out of his vehicle when he was approached by three men, one of whom grabbed the victim by his jacket and demanded he hand over his possessions.

The offender then search the man, taking about £4.60, before punching him in the forehead. The three men then fled the area.

The victim made his way back to his home were he then raised the alarm.

The three offenders are all described as black males in their mid-teens. The main offender was about 5ft 9ins, of stocky build, wearing a grey hooded top, dark bottoms and trainers.

The second was of similar height, skinny build, wearing similar clothing.

The third was also dressed similarly but had lighter skin than the other two.

Det Con Jabbar Khan, investigating, said: “This was a cowardly attack on a vulnerable adult which has left the victim extremely upset and I’d urge anyone with information to come forward so that we can prevent similar attacks from happening in the future.

“I would really like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery or anyone else who may have information – however small or insignificant they think it is – that could help us. Please don’t dismiss your information as unimportant – even tiny details which don’t seem relevant now might become useful later on in the investigation.”

Call the police on the non-emergency number 101 with information, or call Crimestoppers – anonymously – on 0800 555111.
