Cheery Rose Denham celebrated her 100th birthday in style with not just one party but two.

Rose, who has lived at Ashton Lodge care home in Ashton Road, Dunstable, for less than a year, had a great time.

Many of her family and friends came to wish her ‘Happy Birthday’ at the home on Thursday – the day she became a centenarian.

She told the Gazette: “It was lovely, it couldn’t have been better. I loved the cake – everything was nice. They’re very nice in here, everybody is lovely.”

Originally from Camden in London, Rose moved in with daughter Maureen when husband George passed away in 1988.

As well as Maureen, Rose has a son, Glen, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Maureen said: “She’s very ‘with it’ – it’s just her hearing that has gone.

“She likes reading and playing with her great-grandchildren.

“They’re very good to her here, they made her a cake and we’ve had a lovely family gathering.”

As well as celebrating on her actual birthday, Rose partied again with more revellers at a special party on Saturday.
