Family’s ordeal to help heal grief of others

Ashton Middle School last week held a day of remembrance to mark the anniversary of the tragic death of one of its former pupils.

It is four years since Emily Brady was tragically killed in a car crash in November 2008 aged just 17 years old.

Pupils at the High Street North school enjoyed ‘Emily Brady Day’ last Friday (November 9), a non-uniform day to celebrate the opening of a new charity.

Emily’s mother Patricia has started a ‘healing foundation’ charity in order to pass on her ‘survival kit’ to other families dealing with loss.

Patricia said: “A tremendous amount of ‘grief work’ has been undertaken by our family. We have survived, forever broken-hearted, but we want to make people aware of the foundation.

“Ashton Middle School was a wonderful school, she spent four years as a happy content young girl there before tragedy struck.”
