A shop in Dunstable was robbed after a drunk man threatened staff with a knife last night (November 8).

At about 8.45pm a man entered the Co-operative store in Westfield Street wielding a knife and demanding cash, and left with the contents of the till.

No one was hurt but staff were left ‘shocked’ by the incident.

The man is described as being between 25-30 years of age, between 5ft 5ins and 5ft 8ins, with short brown hair.

He wore a cream top with Adidas written in blue across the front, black training shoes with white soles and black fingerless gloves.

Det Sgt Chris Beresford, investigating, said: “It is believed the man appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

“It is possible that he may have visited local pubs prior to the robbery or members of the public may have noticed someone similar in the town earlier in the evening.”

“No one was injured during this robbery but employees at the location were left shocked by what had happened.

Any information no matter how insignificant it may seem could help identify this man so we can put a stop to this behaviour.”

The manager of the Co-op store in Westfield Road declined to comment when contacted by the Gazette.

If you have any information about this incident contact Mr Beresford, in confidence, on 01582 473346.

You can also text information to 07786 200011, or call the non-emergency number 101.

Alternatively, call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
