A man was chased and robbed by a 30-strong gang who attacked him with ‘a brick’ as he walked home in Houghton Regis last Wednesday (October 31).
The 32-year-old victim was walking in Parkside Drive near the junction of Dolphin Drive at about 6pm when he heard the sound of people running behind him.
He turned to see the gang heading in his direction.
Fearing for his safety, he ran away but the baying mob pursued him, swearing and shouting abuse.
At one point the victim was hit in the head with what is believed to have been a brick, but managed to steady himself and continue fleeing.
He was eventually caught when he had to slow down to open and get through a gate.
One of the offenders grabbed his rucksack which contained personal items including his mobile phone, before the victim managed to get escape.
The victim was able to give a description of one of the offenders – a black male in his mid-teens, about 5ft tall, wearing a scarf with black and white spots over his face.
