Proposals for 7,000 homes to be built to the north of Houghton Regis are set to be given the go-ahead by Central Bedfordshire’s executive committee on November 2.
The proposals are part of the council’s development strategy, which sets out where major housing growth will take place in the area over the next 20 years.
The Houghton Regis homes will stretch across the north of the town, from the M1 in the east to the A5 in the west.
Also included are employment land, shops, a supermarket, a pub, health facilities, retirement homes, school provision and open spaces.
The first planning application is expected soon.
