IT was standing room only at Central Bedfordshire College for a showcase of skills in Bedfordshire’s Got Talent.

More than 150 students and staff packed into the main hall at the Kingsway, Dunstable, campus to support the gifted performers.

Singers and musicians took to the stage for the event, which was organised in conjunction with Luton Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR) and Bedfordshire Race and Equalities Council (BREC) in order to mark Black History Month.

It was the first ever LMHR event in Dunstable.

Gary Lee, head of equality and diversity at Central Beds College, said: “The event was a knock-out, absolutely smashing. All of the students sung their hearts out and really made me proud to be a part of the College and the finale of Halleluiah...well, it nearly brought me to tears.”

Luton LMHR Secretary, Andrew Robbins, was thrilled with the response to the event in Dunstable. He said: “Our aim with Luton LMHR is to unite the community peacefully. Wherever we go we seem to sign up hundreds of young people who believe that all cultures can live together in harmony and agree that foreigners and immigrants shouldn’t be blamed for our economic crisis.

“The response from the young people of Dunstable has been so great that we will be setting up a Dunstable LMHR group later this year and hope to organise future events at Central Bedfordshire College.”

If you would like to star in an upcoming LMHR event, or if you would like to join LMHR call Andrew on 07760618857 or email lutonlovemusic@live.co.uk.
