A young boy was left with facial injuries after being attacked during an attempted robbery in Dunstable at the weekend.
The 26-year-old was sitting in his silver Vauxhall Corsa in Leaf Road between 7.30pm and 8pm when he was approached by a group of youths.
The boys began a conversation with the man before one pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the arm and leg.
Other members of the group punched him during the seemingly unprovoked attack.
Suffering one cut to his right arm and four cuts to his right leg. as well as bruising to his head, the man was take to hospital for treatment before being released.
The officer in charge of this investigation, Det Con Colin Knight, is keen to speak with anyone who saw the assault or any who can help piece together why this happened.
DC Knight said: “This appears to have been an unprovoked attack which has left the victim shocked and in need of hospital treatment.
“Luckily his injuries are not life threatening but the consequences of this attack could have been much worse.
“This assault happened reasonably early in the evening and I’m sure other motorists or pedestrians could have seen this group in the area.
“I would appeal to anyone who has information about this crime or the identity of those responsible to come forward and help this investigation.”
