The car was the star at the first Classic and Vintage Motor Show in Houghton Regis at the weekend.

Hundreds of enthusiasts headed to The Green for a day of fun on Sunday, September 16.

Houghton Regis Town Council hosted the inaugural event.

A council spokesperson said: “There was a terrific turn-out from members of the public, who all enjoyed their trip down Memory Lane.”

Visitors could admire more than 100 cars, including pre-war motors.

They could also take a close look at a range of military vehicles.

One of the fascinating displays featured a military ambulance complete with stretcher and Army officers in authentic costumes.

The town council team were pleased to welcome owners’ clubs to the event, including MG, Vauxhall and Rebels Mini groups.

Classic motorbikes were also on display.

And there was a special category for commercial vehicles, too.

Winners were: Pre-War, Tom Smith, 1939 Holden; 1945-1968, Mr Lewis, 1968 Rover Coupe; 1969 onwards, Alan Shaw, 1994 Mini Mayfair; Commercial, Geoff Peverill, 1962 AEC Mercury London Brick Lorry; Motorcycles, Clive Smith, 1951 Black Shadow Vincent; Military, Debbie Lang/Kevin Philpott, 1971 Land Rover Series 2a Ambulance; and Mayor’s Choice, Gill White, 1969 E-type Jaguar.
