A MILITARY funeral will be held this week for Lance Bombardier Wayne Cosentino, who died in an off-duty road accident in Canada.
The service for the 25-year-old soldier, from Totternhoe, will take place at 2pm on Thursday, August 9, at All Saints Church, Houghton Regis.
This will be followed by burial at Houghton Regis Cemetery.
Wayne, remembered as dedicated, caring and loyal, had been serving with Z Battery, 5th Regiment Royal Artillery.
The accident happened on July 28, during a night out away from his base after completing a training course in the Alberta area.
Parents Rosalyn and Michael, of Church Road, were told that he was on foot at the time of the early-morning accident in the Medicine Hat area, which involved a civilian truck.
Lieutenant Colonel Andy Thomson RA, Commanding Officer, 5th Regiment Royal Artillery, said: “It is a tragedy to lose a soldier of such potential.”
