THE Wardown 5km, the second event in the Luton AC Summer Road Race Series, was held on a hot Sunday morning last week.
In the men’s event, series leader, Luton AC’s Daniel Woodgate, was the clear winner in 15.46mins, 50 seconds in front of leading veteran Richard Powell (Bedford & County AC).
On holiday from Ireland, Sinead Paley, who competed in the V40 category, was the winner of the ladies event with an excellent run of 18.45mins, with series leader Claire McMahon (Luton AC) a close second.
David Green (Harpenden Arrows) was the V50 winner with the V60 and V70 awards going to Jeff Dowsett and PJ Hough of Stopsley Striders.
The ladies V50 and V60 winners were Louise Crosby and Georgie Hamilton both of Harpenden Arrows.
