TWO magicians are preparing for the performance of their lives at the world’s most prestigious magic event next weekend.
Dave Allen, of Douglas Place, Houghton Regis, and his stage partner Carl Charlesworth, of Milton Keynes, have been chosen to perform in the closing gala show at the World Magic Championships, being held in Blackpool, on Saturday July 14.
The championships run for a week and will see more than 5,000 performers from all over the world competing to be honoured as the best in each genre.
Carl and Dave, as the duo are known professionally, are not competing but were invited by the organisers to perform in the gala show at Blackpool’s Opera House.
Their speciality is comedy magic featuring large-scale illusions.
Dave, 37, who has been practising magic since the age of six, said performing at the event was a huge honour.
“It’s absolutely massive for us,” he said. “When we perform there we will be seen by people who book acts from all around the world.”
