POLICE are warning people to be cautious of buying fresh produce from unknown sources following a theft in Dunstable.
On Thursday June 21, police were called to Farm Foods after a substantial amount of meat was stolen from the premises.
A few minutes later, the thief was spotted in the town centre selling the stolen meat to members of the public. Not only was the offender arrested, but so was the bargain hunter who was held on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
A Beds Police spokesman said: ”The incident highlights the old adage that ‘if it seems too good to be true it probably is’. While everyone likes to pick up a bargain, it is not worth doing so if it lands you with a criminal record.
If you have information on stolen goods being sold, contact police, in confidence, on non emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
