THE quest for success was the main reason behind striker Jon Shaw finally becoming a Luton Town player last week, writes Mike Simmonds.
Shaw, 28, was one of the hottest properties of the summer in the Conference after opting to leave Gateshead on a free transfer having scored 35 goals in all competitions last season.
Hatters were one of the interested parties, as they had been all of last season, and eventually sealed the deal when Shaw agreed a two-year contract on Thursday afternoon.
Now Shaw is targeting not just promotion this season, but also a quick-fire return up the leagues for a club who have been starved of success in recent years.
He said: “A lot of teams have been in for me, but I believe the most likely for success are Luton Town.”
