Dog Kennel Walk attack on mum-to-be

DUNSTABLE detectives are urging witnesses to come forward after a heavily pregnant woman was hit in the face by a man who came up behind her in Dog Kennel Walk.

The woman, who is nine months pregnant, was attacked on her way to a medical appointment on Tuesday, June 26.

She tried to fight back when the man struck, some time between 9.30am and 9.50am, but the attack continued until a passer-by intervened.

Her attacker escaped and an ambulance was called. She was taken to hospital with facial bruising but it is believed her baby is unharmed.

The man is described as white, 5ft 5ins tall, skinny, with short brown hair, wearing blue jeans and a light-coloured top, possibly grey or khaki.

Det Sgt Seb Greschner is keen to speak to anyone who may have seen this man.

The detective said: “Luckily the victim has not been seriously injured but is in shock because of this incident. She tried bravely to stop the assault herself and because of her condition, the result of this attack could have been much worse.

“It is not clear what the motivation behind this attack was but clearly we need the public to help identify the man responsible.”

Contact Det Sgt Greschner on 01582 473386, call the non-emergency number 101 or text 07786 200011.
