TOWN boss Paul Buckle is confident that Welsh U21 international Jake Howells will sign a new deal at Kenilworth Road, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 20-year-old’s contract ran out after the 2-1 play-off final defeat to York City and is yet to put pen to paper to stay with the Hatters.

After conversations with the versatile left-sided player, who is now the club’s longest serving player with 183 appearances, Buckle believes Howells will remain at Luton.

He said: “I think we’re well on the way now and I think Jake will sign for us, I really believe that.”
