A FEW drops of rain did not deter Dunstable and Houghton Regis folk from celebrating the Diamond Jubilee with four days of fun.

It kicked off in schools at the end of last week just before the start of the holidays.

And by Saturday the celebrations really got underway, with street parties in Millers Ley and Brierley Close, and the Picnic on the Green in Houghton Regis,

Celebrations also took place in Caddington and Toddington, where a parade through the village was followed by a brass band concert.

On Monday, Kensworth held its jubilee Big Lunch, and street parties took place in Brightwell Avenue, Totternhoe, Mill Road, Houghton Regis, and Lovers Walk, Victoria Street, The Retreat and Ravenscourt in Dunstable.

And up on Dunstable Downs, the history festival saw a reconstruction of a Viking camp with a duel leading up to the lighting of the Diamond Jubilee beacon at 10.01pm.

So now its time to put away the bunting and the trestle tables, and relive the memories with our Jubilee picture special.
