TOWN boss Paul Buckle has confirmed that he has entered the bidding war to sign striker Jon Shaw, writes Mike Simmonds.
The 28-year-old frontman was one of the top scorers in the Conference last season, netting 28 times for Gateshead, as Luton had a number of bids for his services turned down.
Shaw left the Tynesiders at the end of the campaign after rejecting a new contract, placing a number of clubs on red alert.
When asked if Luton were one of them, Buckle, speaking exclusively to the Luton News, said: “I tried to sign Jon a few seasons ago, so I know Jon Shaw.
“Of course he’s someone that we’re interested in because there’s a realistic chance he could come to Luton.
“He’s in our division, he’s been playing his football in our division and he’s done very well, he’s scored a lot of goals.
“So he’s certainly someone we’re looking at, but we’re not alone there.”
