FUNDRAISING for the maintenance and improvement of Totternhoe Memorial Hall will be boosted by a beer festival from Friday, July 22, to Sunday, July 24, with pints for £2.60.

Opening hours are Friday 5pm to 11pm, Saturday 12noon to 11pm and Sunday 12noon to 4pm. There will be a barbecue on Saturday. Admission is free.

On Sunday, there’s a treasure hunt starting from the hall from 10am to 12noon. The cost is £5 per car which can be paid on the day.

The hall was opened in 1928 and dedicated as a memorial to villagers killed in the First World War. The land on which it stands was given to the village and the building was paid for by donations from people in the area. It is maintained by trustees and run by a volunteer committee. An elevated decking area offering stunning views over the Vale of Aylesbury was recently added.

Licensed for up to 100 people, the hall is a venue for discos, wedding receptions, children’s birthday parties, quiz nights, anniversary parties and music rehearsals.

The building is the home of Totternhoe Parish Council and South Beds Band and used for evening classes, yoga, reiki, keep fit, dog training and public meetings.

The social club is open on Wednesday and Friday nights from 8pm to 11pm, and at lunchtime on Sundays.
