LESS than 24 hours after his service of consecration at St Paul’s Cathedral, the new Bishop of Bedford the Rt Rev Richard Atkinson will demonstrate his commitment to his new community.
He will undertake a mini pilgrimage in Luton and Bedford in preparation for his new role.
Along the way he will meet the new Mayor of Luton, Cllr Syd Knight, as well as leaders of Luton faith communities – including the Rural Dean of Luton, Rev Stephen Purvis– school children, shoppers and a train driver.
The 53-year-old former Archdeacon of Leicester said he was “looking forward to getting to know the diversity and depth of communities in Luton and Bedfordshire.”
