Town’s Olympic fun day promises to be a knockout!

A FREE Olympic Fun Day will be held in Dunstable town centre on Saturday, May 19.

Dunstable Town Council is organising the event, to be held from 10am-4pm in Priory Gardens.

The highlight of the day will be a grand ‘It’s A Knockout’ Olympics tournament involving businesses, pubs and community groups.

A variety of Olympic sports will be showcased at the fun day, in an Olympic Arena, including local club demonstrations of Tae Kwon Do, fencing, gymnastics and weightlifting.

There will also be a range of craft and charity stalls, a Mini Olympics Arena, a bar selling Olympic cocktails, food demonstrations and much more.

For more information, call Lisa Vincent on 01582 890623. Or visit www.dunstable.gov.uk.

> Priory Church will hold a spring fair from 11am to 2pm on Saturday, as part of the fun day.

This year, all stalls will be based in the historic church, selling items including jewellery, plants and cakes.

Refreshments, including lunches, will be served from the church’s new kitchen area.

There will also be a raffle with great prizes, including a hamper.

The Rev Richard Andrews, the ream rector, said: “2012 is a big year for the UK with the Olympic Games.

“With our 800-year history of the church being a central part of life in Dunstable, we are looking forward to being part of the town’s celebrations.”
