A NEW interim head is now in place at Dunstable’s Queensbury School as the team readies itself for its planned transformation into an academy in September.
Jill Coughlan, appointed a CBE for services to education in Islington, will lead the team throughout the summer term.
Former head Nigel Hill has now stepped down to pursue other career options.
Queensbury will carry out a recruitment process this term to select an academy principal.
Veronica Farrow, Queensbury’s chairman of the governors, announced the latest developments in a letter sent to parents and carers.
She said staff and governors wish Mr Hill well for the future.
The CfBT Schools Trust, Queensbury’s academy sponsor, has already been asking for views on whether the school should be called Queensbury Academy or have a completely new name, and on whether the uniform colour should be retained or changed.
Queensbury was placed in special measures late last year.
Mrs Coughlan is seeking to build on the school’s recent improvements.
