A NEW stall will be up and running in Houghton Regis town centre on Fridays for a four-week trial period.

Now other potential stallholders are being urged to join in the pilot Friday mini market scheme for the Bedford Square shopping centre.

The Simi & Lola stall will stock handbags, accessories, fragrances and gifts, and will be at the centre for the first time this week, on May 4.

A fruit and veg stall has been trading in the shopping area for almost six years.

News of the latest arrival was announced by Houghton Regis Town Council and the town centre management committee.

The council is keen to hear from retailers who could provide stalls selling clothing, home entertainment goods and fresh flowers and plants.

A statement from the council said: “This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new initiative in the town and should it prove successful after the four-week trial period, it is hoped that this would become a permanent feature.”

Retailers who would like to take part in the new scheme are asked to contact town centre manager Sarah Gelsthorp, on 01582 708540.

Or email sarah.gelsthorp@houghtonregis.org.uk.

The council team says that potential stallholders should have previous experience in running a stall.
