A DERELICT Dunstable pub has suffered yet another blaze despite a security fence being put up to protect the building.
It was the second fire at the abandoned venue in little more than a month.
Fire crews from Dunstable were called to The Priory pub in High Street North shortly after 3pm on Sunday, April 22, after reports of a fire. About 25 per cent of the ground floor was left gutted by the blaze.
The Gazette reported on March 21 that it took 20 firefighters to tackle another blaze at the pub, which has been empty for several years.
It is thought to be at least the fifth fire at the often-vandalised pub. Development company McCarthy & Stone was refused planning permission last August but successfully appealed and after buying the Priory from its private owner intends to start building retirement homes on the site.
