A GIANT green dragon was spotted in Dunstable’s Priory Gardens on Saturday, April 21.
Luckily, St George was on hand to come to the rescue.
And the cuddly dragon turned out to be friendly rather than fearsome.
It was all part of Dunstable Town Council’s celebrations in Priory Gardens in the run-up to St George’s Day.
Two knights were there, too, including one on horseback.
Crowds of visitors thronged the area throughout the day.
They could chat to the costumed characters about knights in the olden days, and have photographs taken with them.
Children could also drop in at a marquee for free face-painting and arts and crafts.
The youngsters could make items including crowns, shields, swords and finger puppets.
They could also take part in a town trail to find ‘dragons’ in shop windows and earn prizes.
The weather was kind, too, with only a light shower amid the sunshine.
Events assistant Maria Snow said: “It all went really well. We were inundated with children, which was lovely.”
