INSTILLING a fighting spirit into the side and a desire to win will come first for new manager Paul Buckle, rather than playing the ‘Luton’ way, writes Mike Simmonds.

Hatters fans have been brought up over the years on a highly entertaining brand of football featuring the likes of Ricky Hill, Roy Wegerle and Jean-Louis Valois.

Although Buckle is keen to install a pleasing on the eye style, he is well aware, at this stage of the season, victories are all that matter.

He said: “I think the Luton fans want to win. I think if you ask now a win, or winning in a certain style, I’m sure they would say win.

“You’ve got to win games to be successful, we’ll have to win games on a regular basis to get back into the Football League.

“You can talk tactics all day, but the first element in football, and all the great teams will tell you, they’ve had a fighting element, a workrate and a desire.”
