The Executive Committee of Central Bedfordshire Council has adopted a new Community Safety Plan for the coming year.
The council is a member of the Community Safety Partnership which is made up of local public services and organisations including the police, health probation trust, fire service and drug and alcohol agencies. They work together to reduce crime, disorder and other problems which affect the local communities including reducing the fear of crime and increasing public confidence in their safety.
The partnership identifies its priorities for the coming year and then develops a Community Safety Plan to show how these will be addressed.
The three priorities identified for Central Bedfordshire for 2012-13 are:
* Anti-social behaviour
* Reduce reoffending
* Domestic abuse
Cllr Brian Spurr, Executive Member for Sustainable Communities – Services said: “Community safety is an area that concerns everyone and is consistently a high public priority. In recent years it has been acknowledged that tackling community safety issues needs organisations and services to work together to find solutions to problems. The Community Safety Plan sets out how we in Central Bedfordshire will work together to reduce crime and disorder over the next 12 months.”
The three priorities were identified through public consultation. For further information visit www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/communitysafety
