Testing time as Amari waits on results

SIDELINED striker Amari Morgan-Smith is champing at the bit to get back into the action, writes Mark Wood and Mike Simmonds.

Breathing problems forced the 22-year-old asthmatic off the field during Town’s 4-0 win at Histon last week.

And he faces a nervous wait to get the all-clear from the medical side of things as he bids to play a part in Town’s Blue Square Bet Premier play-off semi-final tie with Wrexham.

He said: “I’m just going through the tests. I don’t know too much and just waiting on the doctor to get back to me as I can’t play or train.

“Hopefully I will get the all clear and I can play and train again.

“I’ve got to listen to professional advice. It’s more precautionary. We’re just waiting for the scans.”

Manager Gary Brabin conceded that his talented striker, who has scored eight goals in 27 appearances this season could well miss both play-off legs against Wrexham.

He said: “He’s had to have tests, and at the moment, they just want to carry on testing him before they let him back into training.”

Hatters forward Jason Walker added: “It’s a shame for Amari, but hopefully we can have a party at the end of the season for him.

“He’s looked excellent since he’s come in, (he’s) played upfront and out wide. It’s just unfortunate for him and just an opportunity for someone else to come in and shine. If they do, I’m sure Amari will be the first to congratulate him.”
