CELEBRITY COACH and former Ashcroft High pupil Greg Whyte has been behind the scenes at Sport Relief once again – this time training loveable Liverpudlian John Bishop for his ‘Week of Hell.’

The 46-year-old comedian features in a documentary at 9pm on BBC1 tonight (March 22) which charts his progress on a 295 mile triathlon from Paris to London which raised more than £1 million for the charity.

Father-of-three Greg, professor of cardiovascular physiology at Liverpool John Moores University and a former Olympian himself, described John as “a top man.”

He said: “He’s a mate of mine, a really, really lovely guy.

“We cycled from London to Calais, rowed across the Channel and then ran from Dover to Trafalgar Square.”

Greg has been instrumental in a number of celebrity sporting success stories, most notably David Walliams’ cross Channel challenge and his more recent swim up the Thames.

As a fervent Hatters fan and season ticket holder, he’ll be back in Luton on Saturday to support his team as they take on the Mariners.

Ever the optimist, he’s keeping his fingers crossed they’ll win.
