Cracking show from the Guides

YOU thought the panto season was long over? Think again! The area’s Girlguiding members are in rehearsal for a cracking new show called Humpty Dumpty and the Magic Egg which is being performed opver two nights at The Grove Theatre at the end of this month.

The Easter panto features an all-female cast made up of girls aged from six-years-old to over 65 years, and includes some members with special needs.

The show has been created by locally and has been successfully performed three times previously in the last 16 years.

“We decided that we would try something a bit different and take ‘Humpty Dumpty’ to this bigger venue following a successful Girlguiding Centenary Showcase variety performance by very enthusiastic members at The Grove Theatre,“ said Chris Daniels, the show’s co-ordinator and director.

“If we make any profit from this event it will be shared between Bedfordshire Girlguiding and other named charities, yet to be decided.”

Girlguidinguk is an all female youth organisation for girls and women of all ages and abilities. The aim of Girlguidinguk is to give the individual girl an opportunity to develop her self confidence, social skills and teamwork skills in a safe and friendly environment.

There are four age sections, Rainbows for five to seven-year-olds; Brownies for seven-to ten-year-olds; Guides for 10 to 14 years and Senior Section for 14 to 26 years. Each age section provides a varied and balanced programme and there are also outings and annual holidays, or camps for the older girls, and the girls are actively involved in choosing their activities.

Humpty Dumpty and the Magic Egg runs for three performances, March 31 at 7pm and April 1 at 2pm and 7pm. For tickets call the box office 01582 602080 or go online www.grovetheatre.co.uk
