Priory House, the Dunstable heritage and tourist information centre, is running a contest to celebrate English Tourism Week, March 10-18.
Three lucky people can win the chance to join a guided walk around Dunstable for themselves and a friend, following one of Dunstable Town Council’s series of heritage trails.
The walk, taking place at 10.30am on Thursday, March 15, will focus on the hat trade, with local historian Joan Curran on hand.
Then the walkers will enjoy a cream tea at Priory House with Joan and Dunstable mayor Councillor Claire Meakins-Jell.
Straw hat manufacturing was the major industry in Dunstable for most of the 19th century.
To enter the competition, call the venue on 01582 890270, or email priory.house@dunstable.gov.uk, by March 12.
Give your name and phone number, and answer the following question: “Which was the first London manufacturer to locate its business in Dunstable?”
The winners will be selected at random from the correct entries.
