A HOUGHTON Regis project, driving down anti-social behaviour involving motorbikes, is now appealing for donations of parts and cash.
The HRM-X (Houghton Regis Moto-Cross) project needs old cycles, motorbikes, quads and scooters, including electric versions.
Youngsters will learn about mending and making pedal cycles and repairing motorbikes, scooters, quads and mobility scooters in the second phase of the project, now under way.
Since the first phase, the youngsters have met weekly, written a constitution, planned a summer fundraising event and decided on extra activities for the project.
Police say anti-social behaviour involving motorbikes dropped by 50 per cent in Houghton last year.
The club was set up by PCs Darren Bambury and Simon Death.
PC Bambury said: “These fantastic results would not have been achieved without the enthusiasm of the Xers organisation, based in Luton, who built up a unique rapport with the young people involved.”
Last year, youngsters also gained qualifications through the project.
