Staff shaken after shop raiders strike

TWO armed robberies in just over an hour left shop assistants in Dunstable “very very shaken” on Tuesday night (February 7).

Two men, described as black and wearing hi-vis jackets, marched into First Choice Holidays at White Lion Retail Park at about 6.45pm.

One of the men brandished a knife and demanded money from staff.

The pair fled with “a substantial amount of cash”.

Police are particularly interested in speaking to witnesses to this crime as the car park was quite busy at the time.

Two other men, this time described as white and wearing masks – possibly balaclavas – entered the Co-op in Lowther Road at about 8pm later that night.

One of the men used a hammer to threaten staff, who handed over an amount of cash.

The incidents follow a spate of similar after-dark armed robberies at retailers in the area, but police are not linking these incidents.

Anyone with information about either incident should call the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
