IN-FORM striker Stuart Fleetwood would relish the opportunity to face former employers Forest Green Rovers when the Hatters travel to the New Lawn on Saturday, weather permitting, writes Mark Wood.

The 25-year-old striker netted 32 times in 44 games during his one season there in 2007-08 and would love the chance to revisit his old stomping ground.

He said: “Every player loves to go back to a previous club and I’m no different.

“I will treat it as another game, I will put my all in if I do play and we will go from there. It’s always nice to go back and see some old friends.”

Things have changed drastically since Fleetwood was there though with the club receiving plenty more investment.

The forward continued: “Back when I was there, there wasn’t a lot of money.

“We did very well to finish eighth with limited resources.

“This time they’ve invested heavily and have got some really good players.

“They’re just a little bit inconsistent, they can go and thump teams and then go and get thumped themselves.

“We will be going there confident after a great string of results and are looking to win the game like we always do.”

His winning goal in the 2-1 win at Kidderminster Harriers in the third round of the FA Trophy on Tuesday night took Fleetwood to nine for the season and he will be hoping to hold on to his place at the weekend.

Manager Gary Brabin felt those that played did themselves no harm whatsoever for Saturday’s match, but revealed he would be boosted by a number of cup-tied and fit again players.

He said: “That’s the strongest squad apart from George Pilkington who I gave the night off.

“We’ve got a few knocks and bruises, a few injuries so that was our strongest squad.

“Aaron O’Connor and Danny Crow could have possibly passed a fitness test, but we’ve decided to give them a couple of extra days.

“We’ve got (Craig) McAllister who is cup tied in this competition and Andre Boucaud and Godfrey Poku.

“We’ve got other players who can come into the fray, but like I say, those players have done themselves no harm in terms of chances for Saturday after that.”

The game though comes too soon for Amari Morgan-Smith and Keith Keane, but Brabin warned Town shouldn’t underestimate their opponents who held the Hatters to a 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road back in August.

He added: “There’s no easy games. Just because of the name or we haven’t heard the name in the league doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy opposition.

“Forest Green have invested heavily this season and they’re not going to be any pushover.”

The game is pay on the day for Town fans, with seating £15 for adults, £10 for O65s and students with ID, while U16s cost £3.

Terracing is £13 for adults, £8 for O65s and students, while U16s are £2.
